Toy Industry Association Opens Call for Product Submissions for the New and Improved 2011 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards
The Toy Industry Association, Inc. has opened its call for product submissions for the “new and improved Toy of the Year Awards 2011. Toy companies, inventors and retailers are invited to submit products in each of eleven (11) product categories. Each product selected for the official TOTY ballot will also be considered for the overall “Toy of the Year.” The call began September 1 and continues through October 15, 2010.
For the very first time, individual nomination committees will be formed for each product category. Each of the eleven committees will be comprised of seven to fifteen high-stature experts knowledgeable of the category and selected from retail buyers (mass and specialty); journalists, bloggers and toy and toy trend experts; toy specialists from academia, professionals such as developmental psychologists and play therapists, teachers; and/or inventors and designers. These nomination committees will consider which of the hundreds of products submitted overall will be selected to appear on the official TOTY 2011 ballot. Five to seven toys or games will appear in each category.
The submission process will close promptly at the end of the day on Friday, October 15. The fee for each product submission is $75 for TIA members and $125 for TIA non-members. Additional information is available at www.TOTYawards.org.
